Pitso steers well clear of verbal salvo

- Michaelson Gumede

Pitso Mosimane sarcastically wished Kaizer Chiefs good luck in the Absa Premiership title chase after the Brazilians dropped two points away to Baroka FC in a goalless draw on Wednesday night. Amakhosi won their match against Chippa United and moved seven points clear of the defending champions. However, Mosimane’s reading of the log table is quite different as he says Downs are only two points behind where they ideally want to be at this point. “Congratulations to them and good luck to them, We are just two points behind our program. We have to follow the process and the outcome will sort itself out. We will forever be challenged every year, it is part of the game and the process. We have to be patient and keep going, it is a marathon,” said Mosimane.

“It is two points dropped but when I look at the performance, we did not really deserve to get the three points. I think the point is fair because we did not create chances to win,” he added.

Despite the draw, “Jingles” was impressed by Motjeka Madisha’s performance, urging the 24-yearold to keep it up so he might be recognised by national team head coach Molefi Ntseki.

“He is one of the best now – him and Mosa Lebusa. I think if he plays like this he will get a callup for Bafana Bafana, He is quick and sharp and timed his tackles well for the last few games. I hope he continues doing this because he is an important player for us,” said the coach, before he revealed that midfielder Sammy Seabi is steadily making his way up the pecking order.

“He is doing well, getting into the team is not easy but he will get there. He must remember that it was a big gap for him to come from Polokwane City to Mamelodi Sundowns and find Rivaldo Coetzee on the bench, Tiyani Mabunda has been on the bench, even Andile Jali has also been on the bench. He has to learn the way we play and is learning in training but he will get there, it takes time. A lot of guys are not playing and he knows and understands.”
