Regarding the flagrant disregard of LGBT human rights in other parts of Africa, our deputy president says we should “keep our mouths shut”. Well, it’s a good job the world didn’t adopt that attitude. If they had, we would still be under the old apartheid regime and he would most definitely not be earning the six-figure income he now enjoys.

I had to renew my ID book which was issued in 1974. Went to the Randburg home affairs offices expecting a wait. What a wonderful reception: I expected I would have to fill in numerous forms but the lady who served me sorted out everything which was needed and I have to say that the service provided was superb.
