Buchan repents, cancels Loftus rally

- Eric Naki

KwaZulu-Natal-based evangelist and farmer, Angus Buchan, has cancelled a prayer meeting he was organising for Afrikaners in February next year and once again apologised for his remarks pertaining to the Jews and Afrikaners allegedly being the only two nations who have a covenant with God.

Following a meeting he had with the Christian Leaders Forum in Johannesburg yesterday, Buchan, who preaches on various television stations on DStv and e.tv, has asked for forgiveness for his utterances. He wrote his second apology on his Facebook page yesterday.

“We have come a long way as a nation to be where we are today and my utterances and actions are sincerely regrettable. Having met with the Christian Leaders Forum today I asked for forgiveness for the utterances I made and hereby repent.

“I have cancelled the planned meeting at the Loftus in February next year. Once again, I am asking you to forgive me for making an honest mistake that has hurt so many people, in our beautiful country, South Africa,” Buchan said.

After the recent statement, he was criticised by Economic Freedom Fighters secretary-general Godrich Gardee, who on Twitter threatened to plant limpet mine booby traps around the Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria where Buchan was organising the rally for February 1, 2020.

AfriForum this week laid a charge of incitement to violence against Gardee at Lyttelton police station in Centurion.
