1924 – First photo facsimile transmitted across Atlantic by radio from London to New York.
1928 – Legendary Australian batsman Don Bradman makes his Test debut. He scores 18 and one against England. Bradman averaged 99.94 over 52 Test matches.
1981 – South African anti-apartheid advocate Bulelani Ngcuka arrested. He went on to become the first national director of public prosecutions.
