Tarry holds strong hand in the Grand Heritage

NUMBERS: CHAMPION TRAINER HAS 11 RUNNERS IN 30-HORSE FINAL FIELD

De Kock-trained Fired Up tops the betting boards at 13-2.

It could very well be a case of Sean Tarry versus Mike de Kock once again when the R500,000 WSB Grand Heritage is run over 1475m at the Vaal on Saturday. The difference with this race is that it comprises 28 runners with two reserves and is run over what is considered to be an irregular distance.

Tarry has 11 runners among the 30 final field but two of them are reserves. Paul Peter has three runners while De Kock has two.

De Kock-trained Fired Up as the 13-2 favourite with Riverstown, trained by Peter, at 15-2. After that there are a string of Tarry runners which include Russian Beat, Social Order and Aurelia

Cotta.

Stakes money will be paid up to 15th position with the winner claiming R281,250; 2nd R90,000; 3rd R45,000; 4th R22,500; 5th R11,250; 6th to 15th position R5,000.

There is also the Heritage Consolation over the same distance and the WSB Sophomore Stakes open to all three-year-old over 1000m. The stake money for both of these Non-Black Type races is R135,000.
