On the six anniverary of President Nelson Mandela’s passing, South African film producer Anant Singh, pictured, having produced more than 80 films since 1984, penned a note of remebrance about the former president.

Singh is known for many of the most profound anti-apartheid films made in South Africa, among which are Cry, the Beloved Country, Place Of Weeping and Sarafina!

Speaking of Mandela, Singh said: “We acknowledge that our nation is grappling with the very issues that Madiba and his colleagues feared.

“His words were prophetic when he said, ‘Our hope for the future depends on our resolution as a nation in dealing with the scourge of corruption’.”

“He must be smiling, given the work currently being done to rectify the damage caused by corruption.” –
