Team of the Week
Had Gaston Sirino not received a red card in the Telkom Knockout semifinal against Golden Arrows, he would be a strong contender for the TKO Player-of-the-Tournament as he scored five goals and provided two assists in the final, with no one else matching his stats. He definitely makes it into Phakaaathi’s Team-of-the-Tournament slotting in on the right side of attack. The strike force consists of Judas Moseamedi and Mauricio Affonso who both netted in the final. Moseamedi’s best performance in the tourney is when he single-handedly eliminated Kaizer Chiefs in the semifinals with his brace before he opened the scoring in the final against Sundowns. Affonso, meanwhile, was the match winner for
Masandawana with his two headers enough to hand Downs their first domestic cup since 2015. Both strikers finished the tournament with three goals each. Keagan Buchanan slots at the heart of midfield alongside Andile Jali – two players whose careers have been revived in this period of the TKO as they are hitting top form. Jali was rock-solid throughout the competition with his slick passes, while Buchanan kept it simple but effective at the heart of the Team of Choice’s midfield. The duo plays side-by-side in the centre of the park.
