We need to redirect some of our defence budget

The Citizen (KZN) - - Letters -

That money could be used to bail out ailing SOEs, writes Farouk Saloojee from Rustenburg.

Do we have to spend so much on defence? The country is going through a financial crisis with every SOE completely bankrupt – look no further than Eskom, SAA,

SABC, the Post Office, Prasa, etc. Let’s not forget the 248 municipalities that are bankrupt.

Why not review the defence budget as there is no war in sight? Divert some funds to Eskom. Government officials have looted every leaf on the tree but still some of them don’t care about the great exodus of highly skilled taxpayers that are leaving SA.

The latest proposed Bill concerning expropriation of land without compensation is the last nail in the coffin.

This will be disastrous for the country.

The bottom line is: all the politicians are hungry for power, perks and for their own kind only and don’t care for the citizens of South Africa at all.
