Brazen Pitso is unapologetic

CRAFTY: DOWNS MENTOR BEEN AROUND A FEW BLOCKS

- Michaelson Gumede

Pitso Mosimane feels he has the right to speak his mind about anything and everything to do with South African football, because he has “extensive knowledge” about the beautiful game. His no-holds-barred approach has seen him stepping on some people’s toes, particularly Kaizer Chiefs, who Mosimane has time and time again branded as a team that benefits from the errors of the match officials.

“I am a different character, I am a different species and I have an opinion in this game because I have played this game from 18 years of age and am 55 now, I have been in this game for long. I have played football for Bafana Bafana, I have played in Europe, I have seen a lot and I read a lot. I know what the world of football is, I have good extensive knowledge of the game,” said Mosimane, whose side face Polokwane City tomorrow evening in their final Absa Premiership game of the year.

“I have a say but it does not mean I am right. If you do nothing and say nothing you can never be criticised. I say what I think but people take it personally. It is an opinion... I am happy to be wrong but you must show me where I am wrong. I know the reaction to ...(my words on) benefitting and everybody talks about it now,” Mosimane added.

“Jingles” also understands that while Sundowns have been arguably the best team in the past couple of years, there is no way they can match the history that Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have.

“You can never have the history of the other clubs but what we can do is compete on the pitch.

The problem is that (Sundowns) is a third force team in this country and this team is making too much noise and competing for cups. Even in politics we have parties who have been here for a long time and those who are new are making noise and other people are not happy with these noise-makers. These things are normal and you can’t suppress growth, it is an evolution.”
