Cape Town felt a chill as the Republic of Extra Cold and its regal resident, Pearl Thusi, set sail on the Atlantic Ocean on a voyage to banish the ordinary.

Beer brand Castle Lite brought the coolest place to be this summer, the Republic of Extra Cold, back with a major splash.

Pearl was joined by her esteemed cabinet of ministers, Boity Thulo as the Minister of Drip, Ayanda MVP as the Minister of Beats, Donovan Goliath as Minister of Vibes and Junior Khoza as Minister of Summer Bod, who all came out to give their citizens the most extraordinary experience of the summer.

Citizens began their journey by travelling in style aboard luxury yachts, jet-skis and helicopters to witness an epic water display delivered in Extra Cold style like only Castle Lite can.

Back at the Lookout in the V&A Waterfront, the Republic opened its doors to welcome citizens who stepped from the yachts into an icy Snow Lounge and the extra cold Ice Bar with Castle Lite’s stylish new 250ml beer flowing well into the evening.

Keeping guests on their feet throughout the voyage of enjoyment was an all-star line-up featuring ministers Boity Thulo and Ayanda MVP. Joining them to hold it down for the hip-hop heads were Youngsta CPT and DJ Lyle. Renowned hit-maker, DJ Zinhle and radio superstar DJ Loyd served up House, Gqom and Amapiano hits which kept citizens on their feet well into the evening celebrations.

Dance and Electro music fans also felt at home as Das Kapital, Pascal & Pearce, and Gremlin SA took things to subzero temperatures on stage, preceding the epic surprise act, Costa Titch.

To thank citizens for coming to the Republic, Pearl Thusi gifted citizens with a year’s supply of the beer.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be President of the Republic than I am tonight. I want to thank all citizens of the Republic for their endearing support,” Thusi said.

“From myself, your fierce President, your extra cold Cabinet of Minister and of course, Castle Lite, thank you for coming to the coolest place to be this summer.

“Let’s do it again next year,” she said.
