Zungu set for Mal­lorca move

Bafana Bafana mid­fielder Bongani Zungu looked set for a late move to Spain’s La Liga on trans­fer dead­line day yes­ter­day, with Real Mal­lorca re­ported to have snapped up the 27 year-old from French Ligue 1 side Amiens.

Zungu, who moved to Vi­to­ria de Guimaraes in Por­tu­gal from Mamelodi Sun­downs in 2016, be­fore mov­ing on to Amiens a year later, could well be­come the first South African to fea­ture in Spain’s top flight this sea­son.

Mal­lorca fans will hope Zungu can help the team in their bat­tle against rel­e­ga­tion – Vin­cente Moreno’s side are cur­rently just one point and one place above the drop zone.

Zungu was a reg­u­lar at Amiens in his first sea­son, be­fore an in­jury-hit sec­ond cam­paign, but he starred for Bafana Bafana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Na­tions and net­ted a goal for Almiens,
