The Development Bank’s loan to SAA will make many a taxpayer see red. Many will presume that it is bull that the money actually came from the bank. They all know that even R3.5bn will not be enough to buy real wings.

Dear President Cyril Ramaphosa, when you announced that South Africa was “facing a new dawn”, did you close the curtains of your bedroom and then climb back into your bed and go to sleep? And have you stayed there ever since? It seems like it because you haven’t done anything of note since making that statement.

Bill C

Boycott SAA. Subsidising of SOEs by taxpayers must end.

John Bam, you are absolutely correct about Malema. All he and his EFF look for is cheap and free publicity, especially with insinuations that “black lives are cheap” when his favourite words – “white monopoly capitalists” – are unfortunately involved, as in this tragic drowning.

Patrice Motsepe, you’re a businessman and most certainly didn’t need to apologise to the country or government for saying that Africa loves Trump! It’s a great pity that those who are condemning you haven’t got your business brain and will always be losers. If those running the country would stop running after Russia, China, Cuba and other anti-Western countries, South Africa would still be the powerhouse of Africa.

Barrie B 42% of Eskom’s net profit was paid out in bonuses in this past financial year. Words fail me.

How does The Development Bank loan R3.5bn to a company they know won’t be able to pay back the money? Does not make economic sense.

Janni F (The Citizen, 29 January), yes the pass rate is 30% and the pass rate for a drivers’ licence is also 30% off R1 000, which gives you R300 in bribe money.

Colin

Cyril, before you silence the guns in Africa, do what you are paid for as the country’s leader. Get your own house in order and silence the rampant murders, rapes, and violent crimes that continue unabated under your ANC government.

Marius

Our minister of health says we have nothing to fear from the coronavirus. They are geared up to deal with it. This, from a minister whose department can’t ensure a regular supply of aspirin to hospitals.
