10 have your say winners

The Citizen (KZN) - - Mgosi -

Josef Zinnbauer was right to be livid at the half time break because, as MOM, Luvuyo Memela put it: that was not his team. But he was also partly to blame because he is the one who selected the starting eleven.

It’s always interesting to listen to Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho speak. After putting aside Southampton 3-2 on aggregate in the FA Cup replay, he said that managing Tottenham was like playing chess without pieces, alluding to an injury list he has. Ever-so-poetic.

With Golden Arrows and Cape Town City having been dumped out of the Nedbank Cup by minnows, the tournament continued to live up to its billing of “giant killers.” Thanks to all the small teams who continue to make it so exciting.

S Radebe

The thorny issue of naturalising some foreigners, as raised by Pitso Mosimane is a valid point. South Africa has a shortage of good, quality players, especially strikers.

Vivian Phajane

Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has done a splendid job since he joined the Bucs. There’s a new sense of belief and the confidence is sky high.

What a feisty Tshwane derby. Sundowns always dominate the derby because of their experience to manage their wins. They have a plan B even when it’s difficult.

Ryan Moon is over the moon with his super form. He’s enjoying his football again at Stellenbosch. Moon is getting regular football and it is good for his career.

After this season, Kaizer Motaung must get rid of coach Ernst Middendorp, irrespective of whether or not he has won the league title. He makes our team play “funny” football. Even if he continues next season, there won’t be any improvement.

Thabo Motaung

I detected five similarities between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United on Saturday evening. Their captains Hlompho Kekana and Dean Furman both wore number 8, they had two Kekana’s in Hlompho and Grant, they are the only sides to share the PSL cups thus far, TKO and MTN8 respectively. The only difference was the scoreline as Downs saw out

1-0. Matsantsantsa

Jomo Sono is right to ask for Rulani to assume his role as Bucs assistant alongside Fadlu Davids and learn from the German tactician Josef Zinnbauer

What a thriller of a game between Pirates and Wits! A good advert for South African football, it was.

Modiri Moroka

What made coach Ernst Middendorp choose to use a defensive midfield approach against minnows Royal Eagles this past weekend, he almost cost us the match?

Steve Komphela proved to the doubting Thomases that he is no man for a big occasion after getting knocked out of the Nedbank cup by a team from the third tier. What would he achieve at the mighty Amakhosi?

Orlando Pirates shouldn’t waste another useful talent in Tshegofatso Mabasa and should sell or release him, the same way they did with Musa Nyatama. Mabasa can easily play for Bafana Bafana when given ample game time.

Anna Mokoari

It looks like it is going to be another trophyless season for the resurgent mighty Buccaneers, even under astute German tactician Josef Zinnbauer. He continues making elementary mistakes like his predecessors. Why didn’t he field the prolific striker Tshegofatso Mabasa?

Players like Elias Pelembe seriously lack discipline required at the PSL level. They know that the ref’s decision is final.

It is time teams like Kaizer Chiefs take Caf Champions League matches very seriously like both Sundowns and Pirates. Pitso Mosimane says that he had to bring in the wealth he got from the African safari to see off his Tshwane rivals, Supersport United in the Nedbank Cup.

Aubuti Mareka

Although it is said that it is very seldom that history can repeat itself, in Mamelodi Sundowns’ case, it surely will. They are going to see off Al Ahly and go to the semis with ease.

Jackson Mphuthi

At least the Nedbank Cup gave coach Josef Zinnbauer an opportunity to see those players he needs to release from his side.

What prompted Orlando Pirates management to release Musa Nyatama instead of Alfred Ndengane? Both Ndengane and Ndlovu are not fit to play for a team of Pirates magnitude.

Samuel Radebe

The Pirates and Wits game was a thriller and produced goals. It was the game of the weekend and football fans enjoyed the game. Playing in Caf has helped Wits.

Thapelo Morena’s ankle injury is a big blow for Sundowns and Bafana Bafana. His speed and skills are good for both teams and he’s going to be missed.

Gaston Sirino has been one of the standout performers for Sundowns in the African Champions League. If he’s not scoring goals then he’s creating them.

Masale Molema

Love or hate him Pitso Mosimane is a very good coach, Africa can attest to that.

Nyaps Makuwa

Orlando Pirates players tend to relax after taking a lead and the back line is realy a cause for concern.

Our teams should learn to kill the game when in a commanding lead. Bidvest Wits should have wrapped it up against Bucs in normal time.

Chief Makuwa

“You will never walk alone”, Liverpool are running away with the EPL crown and the chasing pack are battling out for second.

The standard of our match officials is very low, and it even denies our local football an opportunity to grow bigger, more programmes definitely still need to be put in place to improve the standard of the officials.
