Damme, that’s a tiny bag

The Citizen (KZN) - - News - Kaunda Selisho

While all eyes were on the red carpet fashions at the 2020 State of the Nation address (Sona), it was DA MP Phumzile van Damme’s signature accessory that stole the show.

Van Damme and her tiny black handbag, pictured, were bang on trend in a new style that has been spotted on the likes of Rihanna and model Bella Hadid.

Originally seen slung across the shoulders of models on the Jacqemus Spring/Summer runway in 2017, micro handbags soon appeared on the runways of brands such as Burberry, Coach and Loew.

Social media users all took their turn to share the things that they thought were so small that they would fit perfectly in the purse. People’s patience and hope hilariously made the list.

While our own designers have been slow to take on this trend, fast fashion outlets across the world have responded to the growing trend by designing smaller and smaller bags.

Here at home, the likes of LeGit FIX and Zara are places one can turn to when looking to finish off a look for a night out.

Van Damme’s accessory choice perfectly complemented her look without over-powering it.

It is for this reason that the micro bag can be paired with any look. There’s a tiny bag out there for whatever your sartorial choices may be.
