Tembo annoyed with ongoing goal drought

- Michaelson Gumede

Kaitano Tembo (below) has been utterly cheesed off with SuperSport United’s last three games, which they all lost, against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup and in Absa Premiership matches away to Golden Arrows and Stellenbosch FC.

What annoys Tembo the most is that he believes his team has been playing well but just could not find their scoring touch as they have not netted in three-and-a-half-hours of football.

“It is very frustrating because I think we dropped points at a very crucial stage in games which we feel we could have done better. What is very frustrating is that you play well and do not win... if you don’t play well sometimes you take it because you did not play well,” said Tembo.

“It is eight games to go and there is still about 24 points to play for and we need to be a little bit more consistent in those last eight games, put in a very good run in terms of getting good results – we have not done that especially in the last three games including the Nedbank Cup against Sundowns. We have also lost two successive games in the league which is unlike us.

“In the last three games we have lost 1-0 and it has been a little bit difficult because... we can’t just score goals and I just hope that will change this weekend,” Tembo added, as he looked to steer his team back to winning ways tomorrow night against Bidvest Wits at the Mbombela Stadium. They prepared by playing a friendly game against GladAfrica side Swallows FC about a week ago, having been knocked out of the Nedbank Cup.

“We have had a huge break and we have managed to work a little bit more on different combinations and adjust in terms of how we are playing. We know that we are playing against a very good team that are off a good win so it won’t be an easy game.”
