Pool stages on 15 August and the final with the top eight the next day.

Red Bull Solo Q has officially announced registration for the global 1v1 League of Legends tournament and Red Bull athlete Kelsie “Kaypea” Pelling, pictured, is excited to see what South African players will bring to the global tournament.

The tournament pits individual gamers against each other, making Red Bull Solo Q a unique gaming experience.

Pelling, who is an experienced League of Legends player, has some insights into this format of the game.

“With Red Bull Solo Q, you don’t have to depend on teammates. No excuses, no one to blame, it’s all on you,” says Pelling.

She adds that there isn’t just one way to tackle the 1v1 format of League of Legends.

“There are multiple ways that players can win in this format which definitely makes for a wide variety of types of play.

“Some people try to win with mechanics and outplaying, other people try different tactics like power farming or trying to win by getting first turret.

“I live for the duel aspect of the 1v1 since I love seeing what players are capable of from a mechanical point of view.”

The previous 1v1 tournament Pelling participated in was the popular Rumble and Aatrox matchup, and her advice for gamers in playing Red Bull Solo Q is to play a strong early game.

Registration for the tournament is open until 14 August, the South African leg will host the pool stages on 15 August and the final with the top eight on 16 August.

The South African winner will then take part in the world finals to be held in Germany between 3 and 6 December.
