DStv is providing ‘best content’

-

In response to the letter “DStv misses trick during extended lockdown” by Gordon Armstrong, he expresses his opinion on the actions of DStv during lockdown.

As MultiChoice South Africa and DStv, we take our role as a leading video entertainment business in Africa seriously.

Covid-19 has presented us with never-seen-before challenges in the global broadcasting industry – around the world, thousands of TV productions, movie sets and sports games were cancelled to protect the players, actors and crew from the pandemic. We applaud and support these efforts, despite the subsequent challenges for our own business.

In response, our content teams have worked around the clock to continue providing the best available local and international content and increased access to channels across several packages.

We have added new and exciting content, including ensuring that news channels are available to subscribers and nonsubscribers on the DStv Now app.

We also work to deliver as much value to customers at this time as possible. We regularly deliver customised deals to provide even more value to our customers, including during this difficult time.

We offered an MNet Binge channel with HBO shows, new content on various channels, increased the genres of channels to assist families with more information, education and entertainment during the lockdown; we opened up more channels to more customers on the lower DStv bouquets and introduced pop-up channels. Our video on demand (VOD) Vitality Home-Workouts helped our customers to work out and stay fit while at home with a range of yoga, strength training and more.

From these efforts, and more, we have seen an incredibly positive response from customers, the industry and South Africans in general, as we continue to provide an uninterrupted video entertainment service, with the best available content.

Please be assured that we remain committed to providing our customers with the best available content and value that we are able to, under these difficult circumstances.
