Inferno a hot bet at Kranji

- Larry Foley Singapore

– As a rule, jockeys don’t like to see other jockeys riding ‘their’ mounts – especially the very good ones. But we live in strange times, so you would imagine Michael Rodd won’t mind too much when Vlad Duric jumps on Inferno for the first time at the races at Kranji tomorrow.

The boom four-year-old has been ridden exclusively by Rodd at his five career starts and while the Aussie jock had other things on his mind when making the move back home during the Covid-19 outbreak, losing the Inferno ride would have been considered.

A Group winner as a two and three-year-old, Inferno only tasted defeat at his most recent outing and you could make excuses for finding one better on that occasion.

Duric would be licking his lips at the thought of jumping on Inferno in Race 7 and you would imagine he will have the leaders in his sights when things get serious. Anything bar a win would be a disappointment.

In saying that, it is by no means a one-horse affair with a newcomer from Argentina in Senor Don likely to find fans with Group winning form to his name, and the likes of Siam Royal Orchid and Nationality are in winning form.

The full range of TAB bets on international racing will be offered on tomorrow morning’s Kranji race meeting in Singapore. There are 14 races carded with Race 1 @ 06:00.
