Level playing field at Bothaville
The South African cross-country racing brigade will face unchartered territory this weekend, when they tackle the Total Agri 400 around Bothaville in the Free State.
The event, Round 3 of the 2020 national championship, will be staged over a new route to level the playing field somewhat.
In the production vehicle category, the season’s double winners, Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings
(Toyota Gazoo Hilux) will aim for a third victory to secure their lead in the standings.
Their toughest competition should come from teams like Giniel de Villiers/Juan Möhr (Toyota Gazoo Hilux), Chris Visser/Danie Stassen (Total Toyota Hilux), Lance Woolridge/Elvéne Vonk (Castrol Ford Ranger), Gareth Woolridge/Boyd Dreyer (Castrol Ford Ranger), Shameer Variawa/Dennis Murphy (Toyota Gazoo Hilux) and Clint Weston/Gerhard Snyman (King Price Xtreme).
Others to watch must include the Century CR6 entries of Brian Baragwanath/Taye Perry and Mark Corbett/Rodney Burke, Johan/Sean van Staden (Elf Renault Duster), Ernest Roberts/ Henry Köhne (Red-Lined Nissan) and Marius/Jolinda Fourie (Ford Ranger).
Class T should be contested by Johan and Werner Horn (Malalane Toyota Hilux), Terence Marsh/Letshego Zulu (Red-Lined Nissan Navara), Gary Bertholdt/ Geoff Minnitt (Total Hilux), Wors Prinsloo/Andre Vermeulen (NWR
Ford Ranger) and Malcolm/Frans Kock (NWR Ford Ranger).
Topping the special vehicle category will be Tim Howes/Gary Campbell (Timdrew Properties Zarco Magnum), Clint Gibson/ Alaric Smith (Dirt Sport Stryker), Sandra/Jaco Labuschagne-Jonck (Total Agri Stryker) and Andre Fourie/Hendrikus Pienaar (BAT).
Frontrunners in the Class G side-by-side class should include Nico du Rand/Rikus Hattingh (Can-Am Maverick) and Dean Bradbury/Timmy Botes (Canon Rotax).
