Size to have Scores Of Fun at Happy Valley

- Luke Middlebrook

Hong Kong racing action returns to Happy Valley for an eight-race programme tonight, with Zac Purton sidelined due to a careless riding suspension, while the ‘Mauritian Magician’ Karis Teetan returns from one.

A four-year-old who has ability but probably not quite up to a Classic Series bout is the John Size-trained Scores Of Fun, who can go one place better in the Class 3 1200m Handicap in the night’s finale (Race 8).

Scores Of Fun tried this track and distance for the first time 14 days ago and despite not winning as the market elect, was solid in defeat.

From barrier No 4, he raced handily to the speed on the leader’s back and was only outsprinted very late in the piece to miss by a short head on the line.

Before trying Happy Valley, Scores Of Fun boasted solid Sha Tin form, including stringing together two wins on end in Class 4 before checking home a 0.50-length to unbeaten fouryear-old Winning Dreamer after doing plenty of early work from barrier No 12 at his Class 3 debut.

At his second try at this track and distance this week, he should be hard to beat in a weaker race.

Proven stayer Above should take beating in Race 1 as he rises in distance in the Class 4 2200m Handicap.

Above is at his second start back into Class 4 after a slashing run into fourth over 2000m at Sha Tin 10 days ago.

Eased early from barrier No 10, he closed off hard and fast in an on-pace dominated race, suggesting he’s primed and ready for his next assignment.
