Ekstein missing home Usuthu duo are itching

-

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Ekstein could be making his way back to the Premier Soccer League in the next transfer window, Phakaaathi Plus has heard. Ekstein left Amakhosi under controversial circumstances, after his salary increase demands were rejected just over a year ago. He is currently plying his trade in Azerbaijan, but a source has claimed Maritzburg United are looking to get him back to South Africa. “He is one of the players their new coach Ernst Middendorp has asked for. I think he has spoken to the player and he seems willing to reunite with the coach again. Remember, Pule was doing well under Middendorp at Chiefs before he was released and some still believe Middendorp’s fortunes could have turned out better had Pule stayed,” said the source.

AmaZulu are set to lose two of their core players at the end of the season with the duo said to have set their sights on furthering their careers elsewhere. Usuthu, who are under new management, could be without Siyethemba Sithebe and Siyabonga Mbatha next season, Phakaaathi has heard. Mbatha’s deal is said to be coming to an end in June next year while Sithebe is thinking of handing in a transfer request. “They feel they have served their time with the club and it’s time for them to further their careers and find new challenges,” said the source. Mbatha was a subject of specualation towards the end of last season, with Orlando Pirates reported to be considering him as an option. Bucs, however, went with Richard Ofori. Sithebe is believed to be eyeing a move to Kaizer Chiefs next season.
