Fresher look, new tech in Audi’s ‘5’ ranges
Audi has rolled out its new A5 and S5 range, which feature a fresher look and some added technology.
Once again available in coupe, cabriolet and sportback body styles, the aesthetic changes include a flatter single-frame grille and new air intakes on the flanks of the front bumper.
Inside, the range follows other recently updated Audi models, with the inclusion of Audi connect technology and a new MMI touch display.
All models are also available with three distinct packages, Technology, Comfort and Sport.
A choice of engines are offered: the 2.0 TFSI in the 40 TFSI that produces 140kW/320Nm, and the 2.0 TDI in the 40 TDI that makes 140kW/400Nm. Standard on both is a seven-speed S tronic gearbox with the TFSI being front-wheeldrive only and the TDI equipped with the quattro all-wheel drive system.
The S5 drops the 255kW/700Nm 3.0 TDI V6 engine offered in Europe for the 3.0 TFSI V6 that outputs 260kW/500Nm. An eightspeed Tiptronic gearbox delivers the twist to all four wheels. – Charl Bosch
