MTN Q1 pre-tax profit up 21%

Mobile operator MTN Group said yesterday first quarter pre-tax profit rose by 21.1%, supported by service revenue growth at its large operations as demand for data and financial services continued.

MTN, with 276 million customers in 19 countries across Africa and the Middle East, said service revenue came in ahead of its medium-term target, growing by 15.9% to R45.8 billion. –
