Kevin now enjoying goals - Pep

- By Mark Gleeson

Manchester City will win the English Premier League title if they defeat Aston Villa at home on Sunday and driving them towards this potential victory in recent weeks has been Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian, who was once viewed as a failure at Chelsea, is arguably the best midfielder in the world at present and his four goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week showed his cutting edge.

It would have been five were it not for the width of the post, but he has already topped his previous best scoring season with 19 goals plus 13 assists in all competitions - and at the age of 30 he is just reaching the peak of his powers.

“What can I say? In the second part of the season, he has been beyond perfect. He has always been a guy who is so generous and has the sense to make an assist, but I think this season he has the sense to be prolific and score goals. He won the game against Chelsea; he scored a goal against Madrid and has been scoring decisive goals,” said City manager Pep Guardiola.

“I am very pleased for him. You have to arrive in the box. You have to be close to the box and this season I think he has done that better and better. Hopefully, that can continue. Not just this year, but for the rest of his career. I have the feeling he has now started enjoying goals.”
