Scrap the ridiculous flag project

- John

Of all the numerous, incomprehensible daft ideas our clueless government has come up with over the years, the R22 million flag monstrosity must take the cake.

It may be under review, but that’s not the point.

On top of this, we have Minister Nathi Mthethwa, pictured, stating that “South Africans are not familiar with national symbols”. Huh?

And then, “it is an important exercise for our nation” and “it will help the construction and steel industry”. Really? An estimated 143 jobs. What absolute codswallop. It has no educational value either.

One politician describes it as “a monument to the levels of corruption in our nation”. Cosatu says it is “pointless, senseless and ridiculous”. True.

The feasibility study alone cost R1.7 million. This is the same department that could not pay thousands of struggling artists, musicians and sports professionals during the lockdown.

So far, everything that the ANC has changed has been a disaster and has not brought about unity, jobs or put food on the table for millions of starving and destitute South Africans.

Billions of rands have been wasted on the whims of clueless politicians trying to score political points.

There is an instant solution. Scrap the ridiculous and wasteful project and fire the minister.
