Load shedding is a last resort
Shelly, Eskom only resorts to load shedding as a last resort when it can’t generate enough electricity to meet the demand.
At the moment, although that can change if more power plants break down, Eskom doesn’t need to shed load during the day.
Load on the system increases significantly after 5pm as people start to make supper, bath children and turn on heaters. This increases the demand to a level where Eskom can no longer generate enough electricity. Mervyn Bick
