Mbalula won’t fix transport mess

-

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, pictured, and his useless assistants are hindering the upliftment of tourism and tour operators. He has failed to do his job to appoint a board for the National Public Transport Regulator, which issues operating permits for tourist transport operators.

Buses are being harassed and impounded by traffic officers throughout the country.

I applied for accreditation renewal in September 2019 and for the operating licence for my bus in May 2021 – and nothing happening.

The transport regulations stipulate clearly that if an applicant proves to be compliant, he/she must be issued with an operating licence in order to operate.

We are waiting, writing letters, making calls and are plainly ignored.

I have send two letters of demand through my lawyer, and got no reply. Southern Africa Tourism Services Association has done the same and there was no reply. Now follows a very expensive court case, but we still can’t operate legally.

The press is not interested in this messed up situation from Mbalula. We are going down the drain. It is quite obvious that Mbalula is not interested in fixing public transport issues.

What are you going to do about this mess?
