LOOKING AHEAD: MUZI KEEPING HIS EYES OPEN FOR A DECENT DURBAN JULY RIDE

- Muzi Yeni

Imposing in Race 3 at Scottsville is Muzi’s best bet.

Iam currently serving a suspension and I have decided to spend this time riding work in KwaZulu-Natal because I believe this will give me a better opportunity to find a decent ride in the upcoming Hollywoodbets Durban July.

I have a few horses on my radar and I’ll be able to discuss in detail which one I am going for in next week’s column, but I’m excited with the possibility of my ride.

Last Saturday saw the running of the WSB 1900 and Do It Again showcased his wellbeing with a dominant display. After that performance, he clearly is a major runner in the July and is one to watch closely.

I'm glad Floreana Island won as I thought she would, and I hope it was helpful to all the punters who read this column.

There is no racing taking place on the Highveld until Thursday, hence the reason we are looking at tomorrow’s meeting at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but before we go on to that I would like to discuss the two feature races at Kenilworth today.

We have the running of the two races that represent the respective second legs of the Winter Series.

The Listed World Sports Betting Stormsvlei Stakes for three-yearold fillies over 1800m has unfortunately produced a small field but I think Going Up will be very hard to beat after a great last run, and she rates a banker in all bets.

There is decent quality assembled for the Grade 3 World Sports Betting Legal Eagle Stakes for three-year-olds, also over 1800m, and I make it a race in three. My first selection is Future Prince, who ran a lovely race after a rest last time and I’m expecting him to have improved for it and turn the tables on Gem King, who will be there again.

Pacaya was disappointing last time but clearly has ability and if

he produces his best, he can win this race.

These three horses should get you through all bets.

Now onto tomorrow's Scottsville nine-race card.

Race 1 is a Work Riders’ Handicap over 1100m and this is a wideopen race but I think Bernie’s Dream is the horse to beat.

He has some decent form to his name and has the ability to win a race like this. Space Race and One Too Many look to be the main dangers.

Race 2 is a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m and watch the betting closely because that will be your best guide to the chances of the unraced runners.

Of the races runners I think Captain Catman sets the standard and is the horse to beat.

Let’s Get Together and Captain Casey both have ability and rate the main dangers to him.

These horses should get you through all bets.

Race 3 is another Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m and once again watch the betting closely because that will be your best guide to the chances of the unraced runners but my best bet on the card

comes up here in the form of Imposing.

He was unlucky not to win last time and the step-up in trip will definitely suit him.

I think he is a banker in all bets. Potente and Galaxion rate the main dangers.

Race 4 is a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m and there are a number of unraced horses again so the same as the above applies.

Run Again is the horse to beat and needs to be included while Sea Of Tears was just behind her last time and also needs to be included.

Guest Getorixx has fair form and could win a race of this nature and must be respected.

Race 5 is a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1400m and I think the stable companions, Cinnamon Blush, who is my first choice, and Sky Café, are the horses to beat.

They bring the best form into the race and should get you through all bets.

Minstrel Gallery ran well last time and rates a huge danger.

Race 6 is the headliner on the card, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m, and it’s a small but very

competitive field.

The majority of these horses are prepping for bigger things this season and because of that I think William Robertson will be the horse to beat and my value bet on the card.

He is racing fit and has a lot of class and the draw is definitely in his favour.

Hoedspruit comes in with a big weight, but we know the Durban July is his main target, and even though he won’t be fully wound up, he will be right there.

Warrior has a definite winning chance if fully wound up and must be included.

Race 7 is a MR 93 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m. This is a wide-open contest so go as wide as the budget will allow.

Star Act comes off a small break but if racing fit, she probably sets the standard.

Rozara, Vivid Jet, Sweet Sensation and Aunty Lizzy are next best and rate the obvious dangers.

Race 8 is a MR 73 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m and I think Sea Eagle is the filly to beat.

She is drawn well, in good form and will be right there.

Shell Seeker won very well on

debut but comes off a small rest and that’s my only concern. She could be anything, so she has to be included.

Icy Night, Lady Serena and Natasia are others to consider.

Race 9 is a Maiden Plate over 1400m and I think Parmenion is the horse to beat. He has run two lovely races and will be cherry-ripe for this.

Ultimate Jewel is another horse who looks above average and even though he has a wide draw, I think he rates a danger.

Peteca has fair form and could improve further after gelding so must be included.
