WHO focuses on war, pandemics

Geneva – The Ukraine war loomed large as the World Health Organisation opens its main annual assembly yesterday, threatening to overshadow efforts on other health crises and a reform push aimed at preventing future pandemics.

The UN health agency kicked off its 75th World Health Assembly yesterday.

The agenda focused on Covid crisis and efforts to avert pandemics. But the war raging in Ukraine and rebukes of Russia for its invasion took centre stage. –
