Jennifer Aniston pays tribute to soapie star father
John Aniston, the Emmy-winning star of the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives and father of Jennifer Aniston, has died at age 89.
The actress took to Instagram to pen a sweet message to her father.
“Sweet papa… John Anthony Aniston, you were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain.
“And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. You always had perfect timing,” she wrote under a picture of her father holding her when she was just a baby.
“That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time. Don’t forget to visit.”
John Aniston was best known for his role as Victor Kiriakis in the globally popular soapie Days of Our Lives, a role he took on in 1985.
His career began in 1962 as an office role on 87th Precint, while taking on various roles over the years until he got one of the leads on Days of our Lives in 1975 at first as a small role named Eric Richards.
He was later cast as Victor Kiriakis in 1985 ,a role he continued playing until his passing at the weekend.
Aniston received numerous awards over the years for his infamous role on the long-running soapie.
They include,1986 Soap Opera Digest Awards Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role on a Daytime Serial: Days of Our Lives; and Outstanding Villain on a Daytime Serial. He was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in June.
He also appeared in shows such as Mad Men Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, Star Trek: Voyager.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer and son Alexander.
