De Melo on the attack

- Jack Milner

Stealth Attack may have proved costly to follow last time, but she did have a valid excuse for her defeat.

She suffered interference at the 200m mark and although ending up in fourth place, the fact she finished just 0.60-lengths behind the winner to whom she was conceding 8.5kg, was full of merit.

That race was over 1200m but she will try 1600m when lining up in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville today.

Stealth Attack is a half-sister to dual Grade 2 Charity Mile winner Bingwa who is a 1600m specialist, so this distance should be right up her street.

She will also have benefit of jumping from pole position and that will no doubt be ideal for logleading jockey Keagan de Melo, who rode this Alyson Wrighttrained filly in her last two starts.

Father-and-son trainer combination of Mike and Adam Azzie are making the trip from the Highveld with two fillies. Both Toto’s Dream and Quest From Afar show good cruising speed and should perform well on the Polytrack.

The pair will find it challenging as they are coming up against a decent field in Race 3, a MR 75 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m but appear well weighted. Quest From Afar can lope along nicely in front but Toto’s Dream, who has had a run after a rest, should strip fitter.

She is also receiving weight from all but Amberglo Star, who carries 52kg but is under sufferance. Toto’s Dream is by Duke Of Marmalade, whose progeny have a good record when racing on the Polytrack.

However, the runner they may have to beat is Reefway, who was left with far too much work to do last time and could make amends under Sean Veale.
