Bad record of past 30 years of democracy

-

SA needs leadership that wants to grow the country and create jobs, writes Ivan.

With the upcoming elections, one cannot help but ponder upon what the record of the past 30 years is. So, let’s do some stocktaking:

The value of the rand: plummeted into oblivion.

Water: one drinks tap water at the risk of one’s life. Furthermore, one does not even want to mention the circus of water leaks, supposedly being repaired. And water shedding is at the front door.

Electricity: what a joke. We are supposed to be without load shedding now, but street lights still remain a luxury of the past.

Wait till after the elections and see the lights go out again. And what it has cost the country runs into trillions of rands.

Roads: what a shambles is left after 30 years. Potholes are a luxury and part of our motoring Olympics. The problem lies in 80% of our roads, which need resurfacing. One does not even speak of the steadily increasing overgrowth on our roads.

International level: two major comedies – one the peace mission to Ukraine/Russia and the other the Israel/Palestine war. At what cost have we achieved nothing?

Rivers and streams: what a tragedy of pollution and overgrowth, that our streams are suffocating to a standstill.

Cemeteries: with staff in attendance, branches lie over tombstones and upkeep has come to a standstill. No respect is left.

Ports: goods rotting at our ports, not being cleared on time.

Railways: nothing is left of what used to be a proud tradition.

Investment: who can be silly enough to invest in the regulatory framework of the mess we created?

Anyone who cannot see the ruin and the misery of the people, cannot see or does not wish to see. What has not been destroyed has been stolen, with no-one having been convicted.

Zondo report: what has been achieved? The country lies in ruin because of people who do not know.

The bottom line is 30 years of this, what we have as a government and its policies are enough.

We need leadership that wants to grow the country and create jobs. The present situation is nothing but shameful.
