Kate pregnancy rumours grow

Water toast sets tongues wagging after Prince William’s comments

- Herald Reporter

TWO little glasses of water were all it took to get tongues wagging about the possibility of a royal pregnancy for Prince William and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Spotted turning down wine at a state banquet in Singapore on Tuesday the 30-year-old made two toasts to the Queen with glasses of water instead of wine.

Add to this the prince’s comments a day later that he is keen on two children and the rumour mill simply could not be stopped.

From British and American mainstream newspapers and television channels to gossip blogs and social media site Twitter the possibility of a royal heir is being talked about across the globe.

Footage of Kate toasting with a glass of water has further sparked rumours, with a YouTube video of the young royal and her non-alcoholic toast being watched by thousands of people just hours after being uploaded to the internet.

This is not the first time rumours that the Duchess is pregnant have surfaced.

Middleton and her husband sparked speculation after they were caught cooing over an infant at a London party in April.

The Duchess also fuelled rumours last year when she refused to taste peanut paste du-

According to Britain’s Daily Telegraph Prince William was also remarkably candid in saying how many children he would like to have.

On a walkabout in Singapore on Wednesday, where the Duke and Duchess were greeted by thousands of flag-waving wellwishers, the Duke was asked about his plans to start a family.

Corine Ackermann, 17, who was with friends from the Tanglin Trust British School, said: “Someone asked [the Duke] how many children he would like to have, and he said he was thinking about having two.”

Whether his wife shares the same desire, he did not say, but the couple have frequently talked about their plans to start a family.

Reaction to the rumour has been positive for the most part with Californian Twitter user @88ellencim saying: “If Kate Middeltone is truly preggers I will throw a British baby shower in her honour.”

South American @marinamendez tweeted: “New little prince is coming! Kate Middelton pregnant.”

Others, however, were somewhat more sceptical with Australian Twitter user @ AngelaTsoukalas saying: “Kate Middelton is pregnant cause she’s drinking water? Give me a break! Have you seen her body? She looks like that because she only drinks water.”
