Michael Bublé show bowls Bay over
FROM BIG BAND TO HOLLYWOOD – MICHAEL BUBLÉ TAKES CENTRESTAGE, featuring Jace Bowren and Thuba Myeki (Old Grey Sports Club tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm) Reviewed by Lynne GaddClaxton Gadd-ClaxtonL@avusa.co.za THIS tribute show looks set to become a firm favourite among not only Bublé fans but for lovers of big band music from the bygone era of Frank Sinatra.
The show leads audiences on Bublé’s musical journey from when he started out with a big band through to his latest single Hollywood.
The debonair duo of Jace Bowren and Thuba Myeki provide a great night out with their smooth vocals combined with their dynamic interaction on stage.
Myeki’s emotional and heart-bruising rendition of Lost and Bowren’s take on Bublé’s version of Mr Bojangles show the softer side of the Canadian singer.
The talented duo pay tribute to the laid-back performer’s passionate music with their own emotional take on his songs. The on-stage banter between these two best friends is similar to the singer-songwriter’s performance style.
The long-time Bublé enthusiasts did justice to both covers and originals from their musical hero. Bowren and Myeki, like Bublé’s Hollywood lyrics state, found stardom within when they swooned the audience.
Tickets are R75 at Computicket. There is a cash bar.
They hope to take the show to East London next.
