‘Tastiest sandwich’ made in Bay

-

THE owners of The Sandwich Shop in Newton Park, Nelson Mandela Bay, Martie and Eric Ward, are very proud of the fact that they cannot show their patrons a salad or a sandwich from their line-up in advance.

“That is because they are not pre-prepared but made on order,” Martie said.

She said their sandwiches were made fresh every day so there was no food carried over to the following day.

“The greatest satisfaction is when a client says, ‘That was the tastiest sandwich I have ever had’.”

What attracted you to a career in the catering and food trade?

What aspects of the job do you enjoy the most?

Overseeing every aspect in terms of purchases, prices and quality of food produced.

What specific styles of catering do you like to specialise in?

My preference is making platters. We have a large variety of them.

If you could choose to prepare a meal for anyone in the world, who would it be and what would you serve?

It would be for my favourite musician Michael Bublé. I would make a nice juicy steak and vegetables.

When you are at home relaxing, what is your favourite meal?

A nice quiet, slow braai – meat with chops, sosaties, wors and salads.

If you could dine at any eatery in South Africa today which would you choose (apart from your own)?

A restaurant at Beacon Island Re- sort, in Plettenberg Bay, called Coral Reef. You can watch the waves breaking over the rocks while you enjoy your meal.
