YOURS TRULY BLINGS ON THE STYLE

-

“DIAMONDS are a girl’s best friend” is a cliche, I know, but like any other girl, I cooed at Francarlo Designer Goldsmith’s party last week. The bling house hosted a “Customer Evening” with the fabulous, now slimmer, Simba Mhere of Top Billing as their special guest. Simba who was his usual charming self and, as many remarked, is “much taller in real life than on TV”, chatted to each of the guests and said how friendly PE people are and how he enjoyed his stay in our city!

Francarlo’s daughter, Tanya and team ensured that the Italian theme was carried throughout, with draping in red, white and green and the food including bite-size pizzas and Italian ice cream . . . it was a great preview to the festive season!

I must tell you, the jewels might be cold but they bring warmth to any girl’s heart and, these days, metrosexual men if P Diddy is an example. I had bling dreams and sent my letter to Santa.

The festive season has really arrived evidenced by all the retail specials and decorations, and attending a Christmas carol service at Settlers Park nailed it. The carols evening hosted by NMBT was jovial affair.

With the happy pheromones on the rise I trudged up the hill to the launch of Hub on the Hill, a house filled with everything a woman would need, from jewels to lingerie, with Michelle Campbell publicity being one of the companies housed in these offices.

Sushi and champagne were on the menu, the ladies looked glamorous and the opulence gave Kenny Kunene a run for his money. Cheers to you ladies!

I accompanied my minions to the ECGLA gay film festival held at the Barn at the Opera House.

It was sobering as well to watch the shows, and very apt seeing that we are celebrating the 16 days of activism against women and children abuse.

Lelethu “PoeticSoul” Mahambehlala recited a moving poem about losing a loved one through violence.

This girl has the gift of the spoken word. I raised a glass to a more accepting society!

What a hectic weekend it was for Skinnerbek as yours truly got to mingle with the cream of the crop in Nelson Mandela Bay and also those not-so-interesting people. On Friday, Liquid Lounge was on fire as Umhlobo Wenene DJ and producer Pastor Nozewu was celebrating his birthday. He looked sexy in his designer jeans, white T-shirt and a black blazer. He came with his wife of eight years Lulu Nozewu, who looked beautiful in her white dress with a peach lace top. The two shared that they have been together for 11 years. Isn’t that sweet. Lulu, hun, please hook yours truly with a husband like yours – but he should be a bit taller! The owner Thando Manana was yummy in his black and white outfit. SABC staff members came in numbers to celebrate DJ Pastor’s birthday. Our own Jen AKA J-Lo was in full spirits as she made sure everyone was entertained. Ooh! That woman is full of energy. Also bumped into the newly wedded Mafa Bavuma. Isn’t he supposed to be still enjoying the honeymoon with his pregnant wife?

Umhlobo Wenene’s Sinbad who played the role of MC had everyone in stitches with his hilarious jokes. He is such a darling. Please share with Skinnerbek: Where did you learn those dance moves? Wow.

I must take my hat off to DJ Nhunhuza, a sexy lady from East London. She had everyone dancing to her tunes.

Ciao for now.
