Father’s Day to be filled with laughter

-

FROM a father who helped his son beat cancer, to those who brought their kids up on a diet of laughter, Weekend Post was inundated with e-mails telling us why dads from across the region deserved a laugh this Father’s Day.

Ten lucky readers have won double tickets to the John Cleese Live show at the Feather Market Centre tomorrow night.

Some of the most memorable entries included e-mails from Santosh Raga and Nicole Klokow.

Raga said his father, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 17 years ago at the age of 43, needed a laugh as “I think he forgot how to smile... if he does win, it would put a smile on his face again.”

Klokow said her father, who is turning 60 on Monday, had shared Cleese’s humour with her from a young age. “I didn’t understand all the jokes back then, but I loved the deadpan, the campness and the utter ridiculousness. Winning tickets would bring these great memories back and give us a chance to make some awesome new ones,” she said. The 10 people taking their fathers to the show are: 1. Claire Chatterton 2. Rebecca Vogel 3. Nicole Klokow 4. Ashleigh Kisbey-Green 5. Santosh Raga 6. Peter Chatterton 7. Kayley Johnstone 8. Lauren Dixon-Paver 9. Tamzyn van Oosten 10. Mary Murie

Congratulations to Merle Meyer, who is the lucky winner of last weekend’s Pumba game drive competition in MyWeekend
