It’s back to business for Safa-NMB league teams

- Mogan Segadavan segadavanm@timesmedia.co.za

ALL the teams in the Safa-NMB SAB League face a tough double-header this weekend to make up for the fixtures postponed for the Safa-NMB inter-district tournament a fortnight ago.

Subs, who are setting the pace at the top of the log, play Central Acemates at the NU2 Stadium tomorrow and Tomorrow Stars at the NU9 Stadium on Sunday.

After stunning pre-season favourites Lion City by 4-0 in their opening fixture, the Motherwell outfit have scored 10 goals without reply in three matches.

While they should beat Stars, who lost 3-0 to Despatch Pioneers last week, Subs could struggle against Acemates.

The Pefa Premier League champions, who had a break last week after Highland Spurs failed to turn up for their fixture, were training during the week and aim to be the first team to take at least a point off the logleaders.

They play Lion City at the NU9 stadium on Sunday in their second match of the weekend.

City should pick up maximum points against Sunrise Development tomorrow.

Callies will favour their chances of maintaining their unbeaten run this weekend when they play Showvillage United at the NU9 Stadium tomorrow and Fairview Rovers at the Gelvan Stadium on Sunday.

With home ground advantage in both their matches, Hotspurs should be the team to watch this weekend. They host Camper United tomorrow and Royal Bucks on Sunday. On current form they should emerge unscathed from both matches. Fixtures: Tomorrow: Tomorrow Stars v Motherwell Academy (NU9), Despatch Pioneers v Royal Bucks (Jabavu), Subs v Central Acemates (NU2), Island City v Peace United (Uitenhage Central), Highland Spurs v Fairview Rovers (Jabavu), Hotspurs v Camper United (Moore Dyke), Lion City v Sunrise Development (NU2), Showvillage United v Callies (NU2)

Sunday: Tomorrow Stars v Subs (NU9), Island City v Despatch Pioneers (Jubilee), Highland Spurs v Motherwell Academy (Jabavu), Hotspurs v Royal Bucks (Moore Dyke), Lion City v Central Acemates (NU2), Showvillage United v Peace United (NU2), Callies v Fairview Rovers (Gelvan Stadium), Sunrise Development v Camper United (Zwide)
