Every day is a chance to do better

-

HELLO friends. Wow! A brand new year ahead of us. Every year millions of people around the world make New Year’s resolutions. New Year’s resolutions are a list of things people intend to do better than the last year.

Some say New Year’s resolutions date back to the ancient Romans who made a show of promising Janus, the god of new beginnings, that they would behave better over the next 12 months than they had in the past 12.

And thousands of years later, we’re still doing it.

By the way, I bet you didn’t know that the month of January is named after Janus. He has two faces, one looking backwards and the other looking forwards. I’ve decided that I’m going to do my best to be kind, and choose happy thoughts and not give up, especially if I’m struggling with something.

Have you made any resolutions for 2014? What do you want to do better than last year? I’d love to hear about your resolutions, so please drop me an e-mail telling me about yours. The thing about all those good intentions is, only eight out of every 100 people actually keep their resolutions.

And it usually only takes a week for all those good ideas to fade away.

Maybe it’s better to decide to try to do better every day. I don’t think we should only think about doing better at the beginning of the year.

Although some people say making resolutions is like creating a road map for the year ahead. A road map of all our hopes for ourselves and the world we live.

It’s always a good idea to try to be the best you that you can be. I know I’m going to try. Just like I know 2014 is going to be a great year for our Kidz Club.

And don’t forget that becoming a member is as simple as e-mailing your name, age, address and phone number, as well as a bit about yourself and a high-res photo. Till next week.
