Health and love choices for 2014

NEW year’s resolution­s are a prominent part of the first days of January and for well-known Eastern Cape personalit­ies taking care of themselves and others seems to be a number one priority this year.

AlgoaFM’s Queenie Grootboom is planning on getting healthier. “I have truly neglected my overall wellness, which includes my weight, and I am dedicating this year to truly giving back to me.

“I will also be trying my best to study which is something I haven’t done in over 10 years.

“It’s the first time I have set some serious goals so I am hoping and trusting myself to see them through,” she said.

Trish Difford, who won the Port Elizabeth leg of the hit BBC TV cooking series, Come Dine With

Me, said: “This year I have decided to stop smoking – something I have been doing since I was 15 years old and I am now 58. I will also start exercising so that I can lose weight, and be nice to everyone.”

Dr Crystal Watson, director at MTR Smit Children’s Haven and Crystal Garden, said: “I am planning to be happy, make a success of my career and love abundantly. Last year I managed to fulfil all my New Year’s resolution­s.” Presenter of Mzansi Wethu’s

Our Perfect Wedding, Brenda Ngxoli, said: “My New Year’s resolution is to strive for internal peace and be a better person. I just want to enjoy life because I panic a lot when things don’t go my way.”

South African cricket coach Russell Domingo said: “I am just planning to go back to the gym. This year I want to spend more quality time with my family.”

Anglican minister, Zweli Tom, said: “My resolution is to love Jesus more and to believe more in His power.”

Former Idols finalist and actress Melissa Allison said her resolution was to do better than she did last year.

“I would also like to travel more. Last year I did not have any New Year’s resolution­s as I just went with the flow,” Allison said.

Umhlobo Wenene programme manager Phumzile Nteyi said his resolution was to be involved in three community projects that will help alleviate poverty and develop township sport.

“I also want to reach five million listeners and even more by June this year.”
