Support for bumper repairers

RE YOUR Mercedes C-Class (“Motorist angry over colour of Merc bumper”, Fair and Square, January 27) I’ve been in the automotive trade for more than 30 years and fully agree with the explanation that Mr Dickson from Plastic Rebuilders gave you. Sorry Mr Mhahlo, your expertise as far as bodyworks is concerned is limited. As for the primer, it is not silver, it’s grey.

Be a devil, wield your pin

PLEASE join this movement today. Every time you pay with a card, you use your pin as the sole method to verify the transaction. Yet more often than not you are requested to confirm this method of verification by signing the card slip. This is not only a complete waste of time – it also smacks of placing your thumb print on their copy.

Instead, you are encouraged to show your displeasure by drawing a pin instead of signing your name in full. A pinstripe will do or you could be elaborate by drawing. . . well, a drawing pin. Or play it safe by drawing a full safety pin as a weapon against fraud. We are open for suggestions. But envisage awarding prizes from time to time for the best drawings – current favourites being “as neat as a pin” and, obviously for the “loudest” drawing, the title of “you could (not) hear a pin drop.”

Be a devil, be a rebel, join now simply by starting to draw pins in place of signing. This might be a thorny issue but if we all act like pins in a pod, the merchants will soon feel the sharp end of the pin. JAYS, Pari Park
