Goosen had things under control in the women’s A section, going through the tournament without losing a game. This included the final against perennial rival and defending champion Jacqui Ryder.
Profiles tournament organiser Justin Horn was happy with the way the event turned out.
“Last year we had just over 40 entrants. This year we had 60, which is the absolute maximum number of entries the tournament can take with us only having three courts,” Horn said.
“This year we had a women’s B section which was a first. The tournament is here to stay.
“The plan for next year is to up the prize-money quite considerably and we are already in negotiations with a possible sponsor that will help to boost all aspects of the event. Overall there were 22 ladies entered and 38 men.”
