Mastertons Coffee Specialists celebrating 90 years of hand-roasted excellence

-

MASTERTONS Coffee and Tea Specialists have been roasting coffee since 1924, with today, December 4 2014 marking their 90th Anniversary!

Three generations later, they pride themselves on traditionally hand-roasted coffee using only the world’s finest Arabica coffee beans, the same as when Ronald “Jock” Masterton first opened the coffee roastery’s doors at 33a Queen Street, now Govan Mbeki Avenue, 90 years ago.

The roastery moved to 114 Russell Road in the ’60s, from where the tantalising aroma of freshly roasted coffee still emanates today… just follow your nose down Russell Road!

Walking into Mastertons is like stepping back in time to a coffee roastery or greengrocer’s in ye days of olde, with much of the original equipment and coffee knickknacks still on display today. The friendly staff and management have been building relationships with customers and coffee lovers across the country for years through their quality coffee and advice, and by providing a unique personalised service.

It’s these flourishing relationships and their continued commitment to excellence that has seen the business go from strength to strength over the years.

And just round the corner a new and exciting experience awaits all coffee lovers in and around the Bay, with a new Mastertons retail store specialising in coffee equipment and accessories on the way for January next year.

This new store boasts an authentic olde worlde feel with custom wooden counters, and will feature a coffee museum where some of the original equipment used by Jock himself will be on display.

Within these walls they will also further their service offering, through a dedicated Barista Training Centre focusing on coffee excellence and training for their HORECA client stores in Port Elizabeth, the Eastern Cape and Garden Route.

This new retail store will be the place to visit in Port Elizabeth should you be looking for coffee brewing equipment such as plungers, espresso pots and bean-to-cup machines to name but a few of your many brewing choices. Brewing and cleaning products and accessories and an extensive range of barista tools will also be on offer to all you coffee enthusiasts out there.

For their famed coffee and tea, the roastery on the corner of Russell Road will still be the place to go, and has become a must-see destination for tourists and locals alike. With their coffee being distributed nationwide, found everywhere from supermarkets, restaurants and coffee shops, to the homes of coffee loving individuals, it’s no wonder that Mastertons has become synonymous with quality coffee throughout South Africa.
