Motherwell side Real City’s sights set on promotion

REAL City head coach Bonke Namba is confident his side will achieve their mandate of gaining promotion to the Na- tional First Division at the end of the season.

The Motherwell-based ABC Motsepe League side has displayed good form of late, with their latest victory coming against Zimbane Killers FC on Saturday.

That win has lifted them into fifth place on the log and Bonke says there is even more success to come.

“Our plan is to get promoted this season, now that we are in fifth place. Our target is to get into the top four – that will mean round one of our plan is achieved.

“Then we will pursue the next round which is getting the number one spot,” Namba said yesterday.

He also stressed the importance of their next encounter against Anguva Stars FC on Saturday.

“Our away game against Anguva on Saturday is a mustwin as it will enable us to crack the top four. It will not be an easy game because Anguva is one of the toughest teams in this league.

“Our plan is to attack in the first half of the game, get at least two goals then defend du- ring the second half,” he said.

After recording their first loss of the year against Tornado, Anguva will want to go back to their winning ways.

The second team from Port Elizabeth that is also in the running to gain promotion is Highbury, and they are a mere point behind City.

After their weekend’s 2-0 victory over Mthatha City, head coach Garth Dickinson says there is a positive vibe in the camp.

“We need to keep winning because it brings confidence to the players. They are happy and we as management are also happy with the results to far.”

Dickinson says their mandate is to get 30 points or more this season.

“There is no pressure, we just need to take each game as it comes and get the points that are needed.”

Highbury play FC Buffalo in East London on Friday.

Other Nelson Mandela Bay teams taking part in the ABC Motsepe League are languishing in the bottom half of the log. JB Milan could face relegation as they are currently sitting in 16th place.
