Good win ensures Chiefs stay in charge

YOUNG Chiefs retained their place at the top of the Larofa VW Community Trust Premier League on Saturday with an easy 4-0 win over struggling Joe Slovo.

African Chiefs, who are two points behind, were made to work hard by Vuselela, eventually winning 2-1.

Early log-leaders Golden City Press suffered yet another loss when they were beaten 3-2 by United Brothers.

In a surprise result, highly rated Westhill United were held to a 2-2 draw by Langa Citizens, who are just one place away from the bottom of the log.

FOUR points from their doublehead­er saw Shining Stars extend their lead at the top of the Mofa Build-It Premier League at the weekend.

On Saturday a goal by Simpiwe Manengele helped Stars beat a determined Young Romans, who are 12th on the log. On Sunday Shining Stars drew 2-2 with tailenders Lion Stars. This was Lion’s first point of the season.

Xolelani Ntamo and Thembaleth­u Stemele scored for the tailenders. Stars’ goals came from Thozamile Boji and Africa Tshomela.

Lion lost their second match 2-1 to Liverpool, who are one place above them. Thandolwet­hu Twani and Siyabulela Windvoel scored for Liverpool. Asanda Bongani replied for Lion.

With Young Madrid having a bye, Milan Stars failed to make third position their own when they lost 2-0 to Valencia.
