Beatenberg bringing their good vibes to Bay

- Yoliswa Sobuwa

CAPE Town pop music band Beatenberg plan to bring their positive attitude and vibe to the iRock eBhayi music festival at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium next Saturday.

Beatenberg is made up of vocalist Matthew Field, bass guitarist Ross Dorkin and drummer Robin Brink, who said they were excited to be coming to the Bay.

“We were in PE for the first time some time ago for a holiday season gig. We received lots of love from the people of the Eastern Cape and we are sure that bringing our positive attitudes will keep party revellers on their feet,” Brink said.

Their collaboration with house DJ Clock on Pluto (Remember You) became South Africa’s most popular song on radio for more than 15 consecutive weeks last year.

Their second album, Hanging Gardens, was written by Field over three years. He said it was influenced by his life and day-to-day experiences; the mundane, sublime, books, proper nouns, frustration, overconfidence, insecurity, elation, pride, beauty, guilt, sadness, embarrassment and love.

“We are trying to get new stuff done but it is difficult. For now our focus is to make the people of the Eastern Cape happy. People down there have a nice vibe and warm spirit. And hopefully we will have free time because we can’t wait to go to the beach,” he said.

Other artists who will perform include Ringo Madlingozi, Thandiswa Mazwai, AKA, Tbo Touch, DJ Clock and Vusi Nova. Entry is R180 (R650 for VIP tickets, available at Compticket).
