Hot models, cool house on Jozi visit

-

LAST weekend felt like a fairytale for your Skinnerbek – first SA Fashion Week and then a stint in the Big Brother house in Joburg! I couldn’t stop pinching myself at my good fortune but I guess that’s what happens when your name is out there . . . you do get invites to some pretty cool events!

Before I hooked up with the Big Brother contestants, I dolled myself up to see what was hot and what was not at SA Fashion Week, which ended early this week.

Yoh, forget the glamorous girls, those male models are not shy to show off what their mamas gave them – they don’t even blush when they walk right in front of you with only a skimpy Speedo on. Sexy model Armando Ngandu was the front row favourite and, yep, I could see why!

Back to my Big Brother experience – what a laugh that was! First I was driven to Red Pepper Studios where, after waiting more than two hours, I was finally allowed inside the Big Brother house, which I must say was breathtaking!

There was nothing worth writing about at first except for a bunch of journos trying to remain relevant for the cameras.

Did I mention there are 44 cameras in the house watching your every move . . . even in the loo?!

We had two celebs in the house, both actresses from Mzansi’s Ayeye . Beautiful Fezokuhle Zulu was in head-totoe black, including torn leggings and a crop top sans bra. Her puppies kept showing and she made a display of trying to hide them but c’mon, this is Big Brother – her choice of outfit can’t have been an accident!

The other Ayeye actress, Zandile Lujabe, was her lovely self and full of jokes. Then there was Nokubongwa Phenyane, a journo from Iso Lezwe in Durban, who desperately wanted to be head of house. Of course your Skinnerbek ended up taking the title. Some contestants took the experience very seriously – they must already be thinking of the R2-million prize money to be won.

Anyway you will be glad to know this gossip gal is no chicken as she also took a 30 minute shower in front of all those cameras.

In Jozi I also visited the Maboneng theatre for the shooting of Zabalaza. I found all those “cut/action” calls deathly boring until Zolisa Xaluva walked in. This actor is a breath of fresh air and without his dreadlocks he looks more handsome than ever.

Big Brother couple Mandla Hlatshwayo and Lexie van Niekerk sure know how to have a good time, but what was Kuli Roberts thinking when she made a derogatory comment about Xhosas? Thankfully the media did not entertain her and neither shall I!

Back to the Bay. I hear last weekend’s One Blood Festival in Central was loads of fun. The mood was chilled, the Azania band from Cape Town was a hit and their very sexy saxophonist Lefa Mosea has oodles of tal- ent. Tuks Senganga made a surprise appearance to sing his hit 525 600 much to the enjoyment of the crowd. Jamaican singer Iqulah made everyone fall in love with reggae, but the man of the night was Reason, who had everyone jumping and with phones up in the air when he performed his past album hits.

This man is dark chocolate personified; he looked mighty fine in a blue vest with African print, blue jeans and Timberlands.

Catch you next week again for some more scintillating skinner and social shenanigans!
