Club pros swing into action to help charity

-

HUMEWOOD Golf Club will host many of South Africa’s top club professionals while also helping charity when the Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape Charity PGA Pro-Am is held on April 13.

Driven by Humewood PGA pro Brendon Timm, the event will give 25 club pros the chance to compete for order of merit points, and they will be joined by 75 amateurs.

“As pros we love to compete on the course.

“Although we have changed direction in becoming club pros and helping others to learn the game, the guys still love to get out there for some competition,” Timm said yesterday.

To make it viable for the pros, Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape has thrown its weight behind the event, while the pros stay commit- ted to helping the community by raising funds for charity.

“We would like to welcome Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape as the title sponsor of the event,” Timm said.

“The aim of the Pro-Am is to bring industry leaders and PGA professionals together in aid of a greater cause.”

The leading order of merit winners will be participating in the event, with points being allocated to the top 10 for the national order of merit.

There are 12 order of merit events in the Southern and Eastern Cape this year and this is the only one which will be played in Port Elizabeth.

“We hope to build on this for the future, with more exciting events planned for next year,” Timm said.

In explaining their support for the event, Dylan Whiteman said: “It is a great honour for Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape to be primary sponsor for the Pro-Am golf day hosted by Humewood.

“We would like to reaffirm our commitment to supporting our community with this sponsorship in aid of the Nkosinathi Foundation.”

Funds raised from the Pro-Am will be used to assist the foundation, in aid of blind and partially sighted people.

The foundation’s goal is to support them to overcome the challenges of being blind and to reach their full potential through independent, living skills training and supportive services.
