Nafa premier league sides gear up for Easter event

ALL the Nafa premier league soccer teams will use this weekend’s fixtures to fine-tune their preparatio­ns for the annual Easter tournament.

The Easter event carries R26 000 in prize-money, with a winner’s purse of R14 000.

Champions Westlake, who had their opening match against Park United postponed a fortnight ago, host Blackpool in Windvogel tomorrow.

Blackpool, who finished a disappoint­ing fifth last year, beat Rangers in their season opener.

Park United kick off their season against Ebenezer in Arcadia. Ebenezer lost 1-0 to Helenvale in their opening fixture.

Champions Glenville, who made a good start to their season with a 3-1 win over Fairview Rovers, play Saints at the Saints field this eve- ning. Saints beat Stardrift 1-0 at the same venue last time out.

Swallows and Bloom Callies, who drew their opening matches, clash in Windvogel in the only match on Sunday.

The fixtures are: Tonight: Saints v Glenville (Saints) Tomorrow: Westlake v Blackpool (Windvogel), Helenvale v Rangers (Helenvale), Hotspurs v Stardrdift (Dyke 2), Park United v Ebenezer (Arcadia), Booysens Pride v Wolves (Booysens Park), Fairview Rovers v Fairdene (Marock Road) Sunday: Swallows v Bloom Callies OF the three frontrunne­rs in the Larofa VW Community Trust premier league, Westhill United, tied with Young Chiefs in second place, have the most difficult assignment this weekend. They face seventhpla­ced Vuselela at the Thembalani field on Sunday.

Log-leaders African Chiefs are up against early pace-setters Young Profession­als, who have dropped to ninth. On current form, African should maintain their twopoint lead. Young Chiefs, who are tied with Westhill but trail them on goal difference, play Trymore in the last match on Sunday.
