Others want Matthew kept in dark

- A Council Employee

IT is correct to say that executive director of electricity and energy Silby Matthew is not in his office.

The very people that didn’t want him at his office are the ones that want him back now.

As far as I am aware, he is working from the municipal manager’s office after a meeting that took place at Munelek, where he was asked to leave the building.

To say that the department is dysfunctional is also correct, but it has been dysfunctional for the last six years since our previous executive director left.

The very people that do not want him at the office are responsible for the mess and disaster, as they call it.

Matthew came here about a year ago and he has been trying his best to sort out this mess that they are talking about.

The overtime issue is a corporate services problem not of his doing.

It is also quite correct to say that he does not have support – from his own senior directors and acting senior directors, he has got none because they are working against him to further their hidden agendas.

People in the department got away with too many things over the last couple of years because of people acting as executive director.

To also say that Matthew wants to do everything himself and not delegate work to the directors is also maybe correct because he cannot trust them.

Some of these directors work hand-in-glove with the unions and I won’t be surprised if they are behind all the mess, as they call it. So let’s be fair on him. The new TASK job evaluation system that was implemented in February last year played a major role in all the dissatisfaction in the department.

Mr Matthew, to you sir, you have support in the directorate and not everybody thinks the same as these few that ran to the newspaper.

Thank you.
